I have been busy since the beginning of April writing another historical novel set in New England in the early 1700s. I am about halfway with the book (on chapter twentysomething out of fortysomething) and about 43,000 words. My “goal” for the Camp Nano is 50,000 words which the computer estimates me finishing by Saturday. If I can get these chapters all written by the end of April this may be the longest (in word count) first draft I’ve ever written. While this one may top closer to 90,000 I wrote a contemporary novel last year that was about 83,000 (first draft).
My mom arrives this afternoon and I was hoping to be a lot further along – which translates to the fact that I now must wake up WAY earlier every morning so I can get in here and write a bit before the house officially wakes up and makes demands.
